Christmas is almost here, with all it's bright lights and crisp winter air, and there are options for fun things to do both inside and outdoors too. Let's dive into some fun Edmonton and area events together and explore what this city has to offer!

TODAY (as of writing this post) Friday, December 16:

Candlelight Christmas
Muttart Conservatory
Featuring two 45 minute musical performances from the McDades, and takes place within the feature pyramid and centre court. Doors are 30 minutes prior to the performance, and there will be an intermission with seasonal, family-friendly beverages. You must purchase your tickets in advance. This performance repeats on Monday, December 19th & Tuesday, December 20th. Get your tickets and full details at the Muttart website.

Luminaria
University of Alberta Botanic Gardens
Runs until December 31st, 2022
Holiday shopping got you stressed? Take a break with a stroll through Luminaria: A Winter Garden Story at the UofA Botanic Garden. This year's inspiration is alpine holiday markets, where you and the family can explore the tastes, sights, sounds and surprises that tell a magical winter story. GLOW
Edmonton EXPO Centre
This indoor family event is running until January 1st, 2023, and features magical experiences such as helping Santa save Christmas! Find more information at the Christmas Glow website.

A Very Indigenous Holiday Market
St. Basils Cultural Centre
This market runs from today, December 16th, through to Sunday, December 18th.
Programming includes all-Indigenous fashion showcase, Indigi-Hauz, jigging and Pow Wow shows, traditional crafts, foods, moccasin beadwork, live enteratinment and more. Get all the details at their website.

Borealis Lights
St. Albert
This outdoor, drive-through light show is running until January 8th and is open every day, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. We recommend purchasing your tickets in advance via their website to avoid a $10 surcharge purchasing at the gate. And there's a discount for Mondays and Tuesday! RAD Torque Raceway Magic of Lights

Saturday, December 17:

Wintersong - Kokopelli Choirs
McDougall United Church
This annual celebration of seasonal song, fellowship and good cheer ranks among our city's largest December choral concerts. Performances are at 1pm, 4pm and 7:30pm, and tickets are $25 (students $20, Children $15), and available for purchase at the Kokopelli Choirs' website.

Oilers vs the Anaheim Ducks
This game's 50/50 draw is benefitting the Bissel Centre, what a great way to support the community!

Sunday, December 18:

The Edmonton Christmas Bird Count
...is a citizen-science project, family friendly event that is sponsored by the Edmonton Nature Club. Our city has be continuously participating since 1955 and holds the world record for participants. There are two options to participate, count birds from your home or come out and be a bush beater.
